A Picture Of You

Those we love are never really lost to us– For everywhere their special love lives on. Still With Us Do not stand by my grave and weep I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am a diamond glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awake in the morning hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circling flight. I am the soft star shine at night.

Geological formation[ edit ] Large gravel deposits are a common geological feature, being formed as a result of the weathering and erosion of rocks. The action of rivers and waves tends to pile up gravel in large accumulations. This can sometimes result in gravel becoming compacted and concreted into the sedimentary rock called conglomerate. Where natural gravel deposits are insufficient for human purposes, gravel is often produced by quarrying and crushing hard-wearing rocks, such as sandstone, limestone, or basalt.

Many essentially secular associations maintained places for religious rituals and sometimes full-scale temples. In such cases, the religious aspects of those associations are discussed on the Shrines page while other aspects appear here.

Phrases written on their own lines within the columns are to be read by the respective individual readers, while phrases written on the same line are to be read simultaneously. Writing for vocabulary-controlled readers is a particular challenge because you have to construct coherent, engaging stories and poems using only words and word patterns the child has already learned.

In this case, the poem would have been the last chapter in Level 1, Volume 3, by which time the child age has learned all the short vowel sounds and simple compound words. Using so many one-syllable words and short vowels can make for a staccato effect, which might not be the best thing in a poem about a leisurely nap in the sun. However, if I were to revise the poem today, I would use fewer of those harder sounds since they ended up being a mouthful. This poem was also fodder for the first poetry video I ever did, a year before I launched the blog and several months before it had a name.

My reading partner is my dear friend Maria Carreras, fellow actress, Shakespeare enthusiast, and intrepid traveler. Maria edited this video for me back in before I knew what I was doing, and she now creates gorgeous travel videos for her company Virtual Travel Productions. Students preparing to present a poem, whether for one voice or two, will find a lot of gold to mine in the sounds of the poem: Playing with sounds will help you make the poem sing!

Write a poem for two voices. Poems for two voices can be about anything: Write your poem so that the lines alternate between the two speakers, with some lines spoken in unison.

Imaginary creatures Gargoyles combining several animals are also referred to as chimeras The materials used for the earliest Gargoyles were made of wood or even terracotta but early Medieval Gothic gargoyles were made of stone. Later gargoyles, especially in churches, were predominantly limestone and marble, although metals such as lead were also used in fashioning some gargoyles. Stone gargoyles were carved on the ground and then put into place when the building was almost at the point of completion.

These frightening, grotesque sculptures are most often associated with Medieval Churches and Cathedrals but they were also used to great effect in English Gothic castles. Gargoyles are frightening and intimidating sculptures – perfect for the likes of great lords who built elaborate fortresses and castles in order to crush and intimidate the indigenous population.

However, whilst gargoyles were included in the construction of many medieval buildings, they seem to be most prevalent on churches. What is the purpose of Gargoyles? The first is a practical purpose – gargoyles provided a method of drainage which protected the stones and the mortar of churches, cathedrals and castles from erosion.

The number of Gargoyles added to buildings were numerous because dividing the flow of water minimized potential water damage. The second purpose of gargoyles was as ‘guardians’ of the buildings in the form of abstract symbols designed to represent, and to ward off evil. What do Gargoyles represent?

Sometimes refrains vary their words slightly when repeated; recognizability is given to the refrain by the fact that it is always sung to the same tune, and the rhymes , if present, are preserved despite the variations of the words. Such a refrain is featured in ” The Star-Spangled Banner ,” which contains a refrain which is introduced by a different phrase in each verse, but which always ends: O’er the land of the free, and the home of the brave.

One of the most puzzling sonnets, because the logic of it is not at all clear, and because there is very little in the literature of the time which gives clues as to how we should interpret it.

A similar refrain is found in the ” Battle Hymn of the Republic ,” which affirms in successive verses that “Our God,” or “His Truth,” is “marching on. Some songs, especially ballads , incorporate refrains into each verse. For example, one version of the traditional ballad ” The Cruel Sister ” includes a refrain mid-verse: There lived a lady by the North Sea shore, Lay the bent to the bonny broom Two daughters were the babes she bore. As one grew bright as is the sun, Lay the bent to the bonny broom So coal black grew the other one.

This was the work of ‘pop-folk’ group Pentangle on their LP ‘Cruel Sister’ which has subsequently been picked up by many folk singers as being traditional. Both the melody and the refrain come from the ballad known as Riddles Wisely Expounded Child 1. The device can also convey material which relates to the subject of the poem.

Even Lieutenant Paul Vance, head of the Connecticut State Troopers, admits that much information surrounding the crime is being withheld. But there also some issues that we need to keep the cards close to the chest.

And what about the first responders? Why were they not allowed to enter the school until DAYS after the murders? Why not those with an opposing view? Was that helpful for you all?
